چکیده

Using two-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations, we followed the evolution of a dynamically-collapsing, rotating disk permeated by vertical magnetic eld. As a model of a disk, the similarity solution for isothermal, rotating, and magnetized disks are adopted. The disk deforms into a bar during its contraction. In the early stage, the deformation of the disk grows in proportion to (t 0 t) 0:6 , where t 0 denotes the time at which the central density becomes in nitely large. The bar is expected to fragment into many cores, which may evolve into binary or multiple stars after merging.

Forty Years of X-Ray Binaries

In 2012 it was forty years ago that the discovery of the first X-ray binary Centaurus X-3 became known. That same year it was discovered that apart from the High-Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs) there are also Low-Mass X-ray Binaries (LMXBs), and that Cygnus X-1 is most probably a black hole. By 1975 also the new class of Be/X-ray binaries was discovered. After this it took 28 years before ESAs INTE...

On the Formation of Binary Stars and Small Stellar Groups in Magnetically Subcritical Clouds

In the standard scenario of isolated low-mass star formation, strongly magnetized molecular clouds are envisioned to condense gradually into cores, driven by ambipolar diffusion. Once the cores become magnetically supercritical, they collapse to form stars. Most previous studies based on this scenario are limited to axisymmetric calculations leading to single supercritical core formation. The a...

Singular Isothermal Disks and the Formation of Multiple Stars

A crucial missing ingredient in previous theoretical studies of fragmentation is the inclusion of dynamically important levels of magnetic fields. As a minimal model for a candidate presursor to the formation of binary and multiple stars, we therefore consider the equilibrium configuration of isopedically magnetized, scale-free, singular isothermal disks, without the assumption of axial symmetr...

From Infall to Rotation around Young Stars: The Origin of Protoplanetary Disks

The origin of disks surrounding young stars has direct implications for our understanding of the formation of planetary systems. In the interstellar clouds from which star form, angular momentum is regulated by magnetic fields, preventing the spin up of contracting cores. When ∼ 0.03 pc-sized dense cores decouple from the magnetic field and collapse dynamically, ∼ 10 km s pc of specific angular...

Disks and Planets in Binary Systems

The star formation process in molecular clouds usually leads to the formation of multiple stellar systems, mostly binaries. Remaining disks around those stars may be located around individual stars (circumstellar disks) or around the entire binary system (circumbinary disk). We shall briefly review the present observational evidence for both types of disks in binary stars, in particular the pro...
